The next wave in summer recreation is here – the wave pools. Touted as the next-best thing to beaches, wave pools offer the same fun – even without sandcastles – for the entire family. It appears like an entirely ordinary pool until the “wave-creating” machines are turned on. Slowly, little twirls appear on the water surface. Then it swells into small waves until the entire pool’s water moves like a mad ocean. Around this time, you can’t help but glee! And you can hear the shriek of kids reach maximum decibels.
Started years ago by Splash Island, wave pools have invaded the country with resorts and leisure parks using the wave pools as an added attraction. In fact, in Bulacan, a resort has even capitalized on the wave pool by naming itself “Eight Waves” – courtesy of the eight water attractions inside it.
Those who brought rubber tubes and mini rafts will enjoy being gently pushed by inverted V-waves. For a close-to-surfing experience, there is the right and left diagonal waves. The more challenging waves are the diamond and the half-rolling waves which can simulate a white-water rafting adventure. So whatever your mood is for the day, you can choose what wave to say hello to.
